Michael Adu joined Myra Falls Mine as the Health and Safety Manager in April 2021. Michael has more than 15 years of Health and Safety program development and implementation experience within the mining industry. In his role at Myra Falls Mine, Michael is responsible for the implementation and development of the health and safety program.
Prior to joining Myra Falls Mine, Michael held various roles in greenfield and brownfield mining projects in North America and Africa.
Michael holds a Master’s degree in Health and Safety from the University of Portsmouth and a Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical Engineering from KNUST in Ghana.
Melissa Baker joined Myra Falls Mine as the Mill Superintendent in May 2021, and became the Mill Manager in June 2022. Melissa has more than 10 years of experience in milling operation, ranging from optimizing and building assay laboratories, through metallurgy and into operations.
Prior to joining Myra Falls Mine, Melissa was Mill Superintendent at Minto Mine in the Yukon Territory and the Silvertip Mine in Northern BC. Prior to these roles, Melissa was Metallurgist and Mill 2IC for Canada Fluorspar in Newfoundland for five years, working from the pre-feasibility stage of the operation through to construction, commissioning, and into operation.
Melissa holds a Bachelor of Science degree, with honors, in Chemistry from UOIT in Oshawa, Ontario.
Robert Byers joined the Myra Falls Mine Management Team as Human Resources in March 2023. Rob is responsible the human resources function including payroll, labour relations, recruitment, performance management, workforce planning, compensation and benefits. Robert also oversees camp & catering operations and bus services.
Robert has 15 years of progressive Human Resources leadership experience in Canada’s mining & metals industry. Prior to joining Rob was most recently with Teck Metals. Ltd. for three years and Rio Tinto’s Diavik Diamond Mine for twelve years. Rob holds a Bachelor of Science in Cell Biotechnology from the University of Alberta and a certificate in Human Resource Management from the University of Manitoba.
Jan Majkut joined Myra Falls Mine as the Finance & Supply Chain Manager in May 2022. In this role, Jan is responsible for planning, implementing, managing and controlling all of the financial-related and procurement-related activities of the mine. Jan has more than 14 years of experience in financial management, including more than eight years of international experience in the mining industry.
Prior to joining Myra Falls Mine, Jan was a Finance Manager for Sierra Gorda SCM in Chile. During eight years with Sierra Gorda, he held a variety of financial roles of increasing responsibility. Jan also worked as an Auditor for KPMG in Chile and Poland.
Jan holds a Master of Business Administration of Mining Industry from the University of Chile, a Master’s degree in Management Strategy from the Warsaw School of Economics, and a Bachelor of Finance from the University in Warsaw, Poland.
Thomas Pattinson joined Myra Falls Mine as the Surface and Projects Superintendent in January 2020. He has 14 years of project management and controls experience in the mining and offshore construction industries. In his role at Myra Falls Mine, Thomas is responsible for surface operations, maintenance and surface capital projects.
Prior to joining Myra Falls Mine, Thomas worked for the Trafigura Mining Group for seven years. As part of the Trafigura Mining Technical Team, he worked on global capital projects and financial modelling in support of trading and mergers and acquisitions.
Thomas holds a Master’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Pretoria, South Africa.
Nicole is an Environmental Scientist with 18 years of experience in the mining industry. Joining the Myra Falls Mine Management Team in December 2014, Nicole is the technical lead for the tailings facilities, environmental performance, water quality management, closure and reclamation planning, and permit applications in support of the mining operation.
Nicole is the company lead for Environmental and Permit Compliance, and has overseen improvements in transparency, the quality of regulatory relationships, and communication. During her time at Myra Falls, Nicole has been a key representative for the company with Indigenous Nations and local stakeholders. In 2021, she was made the company lead for Community Engagement.
Tim Reeves joined Myra Falls Mine as the Mine Asset Manager in February 2022 and is responsible for leading the Mine Maintenance Departments and Capital Projects.
Tim has more than 22 years of asset management and operational experience in the mining industry, including the successful startups of both greenfield and brownfield mining projects, and operational turnarounds through the development and implementation of management operating systems and continuous improvement processes.
Tim has held both site and corporate management positions over the past 11 years within the coal mining industry in Australia. He hold a certificate III in Mechanical Engineering from RMIT University.
